According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the operation targeted "prominent terrorists" who were organizing assaults and struck a Hamas command center inside the school. The deaths of civilians are still being investigated.

The situation escalated further after the strike when the IDF began military operations in Shejaiya, northern Gaza, to extend a "security zone" along the border.

In Shejaiya, the IDF issued evacuation orders, offering "organized routes" for residents to leave the fighting area. In Gaza, hundreds of thousands have once more been uprooted.

In the last 24 hours, 287 people were injured and 86 people died, according to Gaza's Health Ministry. A blockade restricting aid and continued strikes make it difficult for hospitals to cope.

The military activities of Israel are not restricted to Gaza; recent airstrikes in Lebanon have killed over 1,400 people, including the leader of Hezbollah, indicating a wider regional battle.

The UN and allies have called on Israel to suspend hostilities and permit more humanitarian aid into Gaza in response to the tragic school strike and expanding operations, which have drawn international condemnation.

As Israel presses its offensive to pressure Hamas into releasing hostages, the toll on civilians mounts. The conflict shows no signs of slowing, leaving Gaza’s future in limbo.
